Which is better … Silicone Skin Case and hard crystal clear case for your phone?

I have a Sony Ericsson W800 phone. I'm thinking buying a box that can protect against scratches. I saw several cases on eBay, but I'm trying to decide what is best for my cell phone … Silicone Skin Case or with crystal clear case of difficulties. Let me know if you prefer. If you have one, tell me how you feel about the case on the phone. Thanks!
